GLOW GOLF | JULIE RIESE RETIREMENT PARTY

THURSDAY, AUGUST 17

Swing into the night with our 100-yard glow golf closest-to-the-pin event on Lakeview Terrace and Player 18 and compete for a Golf Shop credit!

 

Prior to the competition, we will host a retirement reception from 7:30-8:30pm for Member Services Coordinator Julie Riese.  Even if you don't plan to compete in the golf event, please stop by to thank Julie for her nearly 12 years of service.

 

All Members: Complimentary  |  Guests: $25++

CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP

FRIDAY, AUGUST 18 - SUNDAY, AUGUST 20

Gross and net divisions for men and women, determined by number of entrants and handicaps. The regular division will play Friday - Sunday 18-holes each day, the senior (60-69) division and NEW in 2023 the legends division (70+) will play Saturday & Sunday 18-holes each day. Tee times will be assigned within your flight. 

 

2-Day Senior/Legends $75++  |  3-Day Regular $90++

Open to Signature, Golf, Young Executive & Generational Members.

Every August, our Members celebrate GN's staff with the Member-Staff Classic.  Members volunteer to switch roles with the staff, complete in a 9-hole game with staff, and contribute to raffle prizes and college scholarships.  

 

If you’d like to play and/or attend dinner, please click below to register.

 

To volunteer for a staff role like bartender, beverage cart attendant, server, or club cleaner, please visit the Member Tap Room to sign up on the paper registration posted near the Member Desk.

 

Lastly, please consider a donation to the raffle for the staff.   Any donation of gifts or cash would be greatly appreciated.  (Please clearly mark your donations and provide them to Charlie Brown or Accounting.)

COLOR FOR CARE

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19

Color for Care started 10 years ago to help make a difference and improve the lives of those who are currently battling cancer in our community. Thanks to the generous support of the GN Member's Club and guests, more than $120,000 has been raised to date. This year the outing is in September, in honor of Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Proceeds will support local programs and patients diagnosed with prostate cancer.  

 

Schedule:

6:30-7:30am: Breakfast & Registration

8:00am: Scramble Shotgun Start

1:00pm: Lunch

LADIES LOCKER ROOM UPDATE

KEYS HAVE ARRIVED

All ladies who have requested a locker this year may stop by the Membership Office/Desk to select a locker and be issued a key. Lockers will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.

MEN'S NATIONAL DAY

Beautiful golf weather greeted the record turnout of 104 players for Men’s National Day, Friday, August 11. Members invited one or three guests to compete in a 2 net best ball game on the Player Course with closest to pin on the par 3’s, an on-course food station, and a 9-hole alternate shot putting contest on The Dance Floor to finish the day. Chef Alex rolled out the red carpet and put out another incredible buffet line to the delight of Members and guests. Thanks to all who participated!  Please find results below.

JUNIOR TOURNAMENT SERIES

Destination Geneva National launched its new Junior Tournament Series back in June.  Open to players from age 6 to 18, the series aimed to involve more juniors in the game, expand their knowledge of golf rules and etiquette, and provide experience in a tournament atmosphere.  The tournament series featured three 9-hole tournaments in June, July and August with age-appropriate tees based upon the US Kids Golf Family program recommendation along with a season long points race.

2023 MEMBER PUTTING CHAMPIONSHIP

Geneva National’s 2nd Annual 18-Hole Putting Championship was held on Sunday, August 13 on The Dance Floor with tee times starting at 2:00pm.  The 34 participants - 12 women and 22 men -- battled through consistent rain showers and a demanding course set-up.  This year’s event consisted of both Women’s and Men’s divisions with a parking spot up and Pro Shop credit as rewards for each division.  Thanks to all who came out and persevered though the steady rains. 

 

Women’s Division Winners:

Week 9 of Weekend Men’s & Ladies Golf is in the books. Eight Men’s and six Ladies teams took to the Palmer Course Sunday, August 13 and played two different formats. All the participants enjoyed a GN-sponsored lunch following play and some made their way over to the GN Putting Championship afterward. Thanks to all who participated!  Only one week remains in the Weekend Golf Series. Check your calendars and get involved in week 10! USGA/GHIN APP

USER PROTOCOL

All members who use GHIN to enter their scores need to completely log out of the GHIN System on their device and log back into their GHIN account to ensure the proper and current course ratings, slopes, and handicap holes are being used as you enter scores from GN. Some members have inaccurate handicapping information being used as they have been using the “old” outdated information from previous handicapping numbers. Any questions please let the member golf staff know.

 

A step-by-step tutorial is below from an Apple iPhone and other devices should be very similar.

 

On your device

  1. Open the USGA/GHIN App
  2. Go to bottom of the home screen and select "MORE"
  3. Go to the bottom of the new screen and select "Log Out" See note below.
    Note: Find the "SHOW" button next to the password information. Select "SHOW". Make an accurate note of the password that you are using. You may need this information to log back in.
  4. Select the "Log Out" of the system selection
  5. Select the "Log In" selection. If necessary enter your password information and email information. This information may have been retained by the system. This should give you the correct information for our courses.
